Yeicy Alejandro and Genesis Cintron are both part of the almost 135,000 Puerto Ricans who relocated to the mainland after Hurricane Maria.
The hurricane happened more than two years ago, but both Alejandro and Cintron still remember their emotions during that time. Frustration, fear, and desperation pushed many Puerto Ricans to leave their homes.
Thanks to both their friendship and the Educational Opportunity Program at CCSU, Yeicy and Genesis are getting the support they need to deal with that trauma and find acceptance in Connecticut.
